Highland Perthshire is the perfect destination to indulge in field sports, and with some of the finest sporting estates on our doorstep, you can be assured of an array of options.  You’ll find excellent shooting, including pheasant, grouse and partridge and deer stalking.  Packed lunches can be provided.

Hiking

You’ll find wonderful options for hiking direct from The Old Manse of Blair.  The Falls of Bruar, Glen Tilt and Blair Castle are the closest options on foot.  If you’re looking to bag a ‘Munro’, it’s got to be the mighty Schehallion in nearby Kinloch Rannoch.  Allow yourself at least five hours, a packed lunch from our kitchen and some sturdy boots and you’re in for a memorable climb and some spectacular views across Highland Perthshire.  When you return, you’ll definitely deserve a namesake Schehallion beer from the bar!

Golf

Perthshire is home to some of the finest golf courses in the world. Gleneagles is within easy reach with its PGA Centenary Course, which played host to the 2019 Solheim Cup and 2014 Ryder Cup, The King’s course and The Queen’s course.

Blair Atholl and Pitlochry both have golf courses, as well as Aberfeldy and Taymouth.

Castle Stuart can be reached in 90 mins as well as Carnoustie and Trump Aberdeen.



Fishing

Why not try Salmon fishing on the River Tay? We’re only 15 minutes from The Newtyle Beat in Dunkeld. Whether you’re an experienced fly fisher, or a complete novice, the friendly Ghillie will set you up for a fine day on the river.  Whether you want a full Luxury Champagne Picnic, riverside fine dining or basic packed lunches, all can be provided.
